The real question is how anyone immersed in national security could possibly endorse Mr. Trump, whose extravagant ignorance of the issues and disdain for the United States’ allies and commitments are hallmarks of his candidacy.

The idea of installing Mr. Trump as commander in chief has chilled many of the most respected GOP figures in international affairs. They include former secretary of state George P. Shultz, who served almost seven years in the Reagan administration — “God help us,” said Mr. Shultz, on the prospect of Mr. Trump’s victory — and former secretary of state Colin L. Powell, who called Mr. Trump “a national disgrace and an international pariah.”

Save the Day!

Voting is a heroic and necessary act. This matters more than any single thing you’re going to do in the next two years.

Save The Day

We are a short-form digital production company dedicated to the idea that voting is a necessary and heroic act. That every voice in this wonderfully diverse nation should, and must, be heard. That the only thing that can save democracy is the act that defines it.

“I like people who weren’t captured, okay?”

“He’s a war hero because he was captured—I like people who weren’t captured, okay?” Trump said, provoking the ire of numerous Republicans. Trump has yet to apologize for the for one of the most ignorant, hateful comments ever uttered by a US Presidential candidate.

“I think he may owe an apology to the families of those who have sacrificed in conflict and those who have undergone the prison experience in serving their country,” said McCain.

A 5-time draft dodger, Trump himself did not serve in the military. The VFW called his comments “despicable.”

Obama: We Will Educate Trump

During the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner, President Obama discussed issues of civil rights and slavery in relation to Donald Trump.

Addressing the Congressional Black Caucus gala for the last time as president, Obama warned that while his name would not be on the ballot in November, all of the progress that the country has made over the last eight years was on the line.

“If I hear anybody saying their vote does not matter, that it doesn’t matter who we elect — read up on your history. It matters. We’ve got to get people to vote,” Obama said. “I will consider it a personal insult — an insult to my legacy — if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election. You want to give me a good sendoff? Go vote.”
