MCDC Speaker Meeting July 13th

The Madison County Democratic Committee will hold its next meeting at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 13th at the Madison Presbyterian Church on Fishback Road.

Mr. Galen Fountain, the former Democratic Clerk for the United States Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and a current teacher at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy will be on hand to talk with us about the recent Farm Bill and the proposed cuts to SNAP (food stamps).

Do you think you could survive on a weekly food budget of only $31.50?  That is the average weekly per-person SNAP benefit (comparatively, the average person spends about $130.00 on food per week).

The GOP-mandated cuts of $20.5 billion over the next 10 years could result in an average food budget reduction of $130/month for already-struggling Madison families.

We hope you’ll join the conversation!
