NOTICE

TO:  REGISTERED VOTERS OF MADISON COUNTY
FROM:  DIANA A. EANES, GENERAL REGISTRAR

PHOTO ID FOR VOTING

Effective July 1, 2014, voter cards sent to you by this office will no longer be used for identification purposes at the polls.  § 24.2-404 requires that voters present a photo identification for in person voting.  If you do not have any of the acceptable forms of identification listed below, I will (beginning July 1) provide a voter photo identification card in my office free of charge. Acceptable forms of identification are listed below:

1.    Valid Virginia driver’s license
2.    Valid United States passport
3.    Valid college or university student photo ID (Issuer most be an institution of higher education located in Virginia).
4.    DMV issued photo identification card
5.    Government issued photo identification
6.    Valid employee photo identification

Before I will take your photograph, you will be required to complete a Voter Photo Identification Card application.  In that application, you will sign a statement that affirms the fact that you do not have any of the above identification.
