The redistricting referendum passed statewide on Tuesday by a margin of 51% to 49%, but Wednesday afternoon April 22, the same Tazewell County Circuit Court Judge, Jack S. Hurley, Jr., blocked the vote certification ruling that the referendum and the bill that triggered it were unconstitutional. Attorney General Jay Jones will appeal. The vote totals for Madison County were 1,846 Yes (30%) and 4,357 No (70%).
