The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) requires that all county committees like MCDC hold a reorganization from the time period of December 1 until January 15. This means that our membership is dissolved, and individuals must complete a membership form to renew their membership or to join for the first time.
Please complete the online 2026 Membership Form and pay your $25 membership dues. By completing the form prior to or on January 3, your name will be included in the “election” of members to the committee. Please plan to attend and be part of our reorganization. The caucus is held to “elect” members to our committee. Then we adjourn and open our regular meeting and the membership then elects the officers for the 2026-2027 term. Below are links to the official Call To Caucus and Caucus Rules.
In the 2026 legislative session, Virginia will debate whether or not to join 17 states and the District of Columbia passing the National Popular Vote bill. This is the state-based effort to fix the Electoral College. It will take effect when states with 270 (a majority) electoral votes have enacted the legislation. So far, states with 209 electors are on board. Virginia could play an important role in this national effort.
